Frequently Asked Questions

How does NAFIIA work?

NAFIIA is an online marketplace platform or space that holds our vendors together. Think of an in-person marketplace, each vendor is not owned by the parking lot, but as independent businesses thriving together - NAFIIA is the same. These businesses and creators are working independently and they will have different terms and conditions. Please check each vendor's profile for their policies.

Visit https://www.nafiia.com

Fill out our “Join NAFIIA” form on the website (or email [email protected]) this information will be sent directly to our team to review and either accept, help make amends to accept or deny you request. Please ensure you read the below FAQ to see what our photo requirements are. From that stage there will be a lot of assistance to ensure your storefront setup is smooth and simple. Do I need professional photography to be a vendor on NAFIIA?

No, you do not however there are one of two options for your initial product images:

If you do not have professional photography yet we do require a well lit white background for the initial image that will be displayed on our general listings page. When potential buyers scroll through your item the additional photos can be in a different, but appropriate setting. OR The initial image can be professional photography.

If you have any questions or are needing assistance with this please reach out to our team at [email protected] We are very well versed in recommending a variety of both free and paid apps to help you set this up.

For a first time violation of the Act, an individual can face civil or criminal penalties up to a $250,000 fine or a 5-year prison term, or both. If a business violates the Act, it can face civil penalties or can be prosecuted and fined up to $1,000,000. Under the Act, an Indian is defined as a member of any federally or officially State recognized tribe of the United States, or an individual certified as an Indian artisan by an Indian tribe.” To read more visit The Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990

What items are prohibited to sell on the site?

Anything that violates your countries prohibited items list ie. firearms, drugs ect..

What products are restricted to ship internationally?

Please refer to your country's rules on shipping and prohibited items. This will be different for every country and can even be on things like seal skins and natural fabrics as well. It is your responsibility to know the limits of your products reach.

Can I offer custom orders through NAFIIA?

YES! You will need to upload some example images, be sure to indicate that they are indeed special custom orders with the accurate shipping times and disclaimers in the descriptions.

I am making custom Regalia, how do I know I am selling to the appropriate people?

This will be your own screening process and NAFIIA will unfortunately not be able to regulate or police the requests you will receive. Some suggestions we can make that are not mandatory, but suggestions are: You can ask for proof of their band/tribe that they are part of, require a description of who they are and why they want you to be the creator of goods, how long they have been practicing their art and where? If you feel like the person is either not genuine or not a good fit, you have every right to deny the request and move on.

Can I purchase off of NAFIIA if I am not indigenous?

Absolutely! This is a fantastic way to participate in cultural appreciation vs appropriation. You are helping cultural knowledge renewal and being an ally to our communities by purchasing from indigenous owned and operated creators.

I am not Indigenous, can I purchase from the Regalia section?

No.
